Grounding & Preparation for Deep Inner Work: A 12 Week Group Experience
This small group offers a structured space for developing the psychological and somatic capacities that support working with deep and potentially intense inner experiences.
Many participants are either preparing for, or integrating, experiences that have taken them beyond their usual frame of reference — including psychedelic experiences. The focus, however, is not on the experiences themselves, but on how to meet them internally — in a steady, grounded, and practical way.
Emphasis is placed on building the ability to remain present, regulated, and responsive when encountering challenging or unfamiliar states within yourself.
Who This Group Is For
This group may be suitable for:
• Individuals who are considering a psychedelic experience and would like to prepare in a thoughtful and psychologically informed way
• Individuals who have had a psychedelic experience and feel they have not fully integrated or made sense of what emerged
• Individuals who have had intense or destabilising inner experiences (with or without substances) and are seeking support to process and stabilise
• People who are interested in developing greater emotional regulation, self-awareness, and capacity for working with strong internal states
• Those who are open to a body-based, experiential approach to psychological growth
Suitability and Readiness
Participation in this group requires a baseline level of psychological stability and the capacity to remain present with internal experience, even when it becomes challenging.
The group is not designed for those who are currently feeling highly overwhelmed, acutely distressed, or significantly dysregulated.
As the work may bring forward deeper emotional material, participants are expected to have access to appropriate support outside the group — ideally an ongoing therapeutic relationship — where experiences can be processed if needed.
Suitability for this work is assessed during an initial consultation.
Focus of the Work
The group is experiential and skills-based, with an emphasis on:
• Developing nervous system regulation and stability
• Increasing awareness of internal states and bodily signals
• Recognising patterns of activation, shutdown, and protection
• Learning how to stay oriented during challenging inner experiences
• Clarifying personal intentions for inner work
• Approaching experience with curiosity rather than control
The work is gradual and paced, with careful attention to maintaining stability throughout.
Practices Included
Sessions may include:
• Guided grounding and regulation practices
• Body-based awareness and tracking
• Elements of breathwork (where appropriate)
• Tremor-based release (TRE®)
• Reflective exercises and group discussion
The aim is not to induce altered states, but to build the capacity to remain present, regulated, and responsive when they arise.
Structure and Containment
This is a closed, small group with a consistent group of participants over the full duration of the programme.
The structure allows for:
• Continuity and depth of work
• Gradual development of capacity over time
• A contained and predictable environment
Broader Relevance
The capacities developed in this group extend beyond any single context.
Skills such as regulation, embodiment, and the ability to remain present with internal experience are foundational for psychological wellbeing more generally, and support a wide range of processes — including the integration of non-ordinary experiences.
